Findhorn began in 1962 when three people settled in a caravan by a remote Scottish bay. Now Europe's oldest ecovillage with around 500 residents, it's a founder member of the Global Ecovillage Network and holds the lowest recorded ecological footprint of any community in the industrialized world.
